After it permanently stopped operations at the Murdochville mining site, Xstrata Mines Gaspé was required to conduct biodiversity monitoring at the said site. SNC-Lavalin, chief coordinator of the project, engaged Activa Environnement to undertake the field monitoring. The mandate awarded to our firm included installing wildlife infrastructure (nest boxes, exclosures, artificial habitat such as brush piles for small fauna, etc.), conducting surveys and processing the collected data.
