Activa Environnement is proud to celebrate 20 years in the business. What initially began as a small environmental consulting firm grew over the years into one of Quebec’s key players in the sector, even landing a few mandates in other parts of Canada along the way.

Founded in 2001, Activa Environnement began its activities in the eastern Quebec town of New Richmond. The expertise offered by the company was initially limited to biology and forestry. In the years that followed, the firm quickly expanded its service offering as it recruited complementary professionals, laying the foundation for what would become the multidisciplinary team that characterizes Activa today, which is notably composed of biologists, agronomists, forest engineers, civil engineers, hydrogeologists, land planners, GIS technicians and chemists.

Over the years, the company has honed its expertise and expanded its clientele. The robust growth of the wind sector and the quality of the company’s services combined with its strong values have allowed the firm to make a name for itself throughout the province. In 2008, in an effort to further its reach, Activa acquired JMP Consultants, a firm of expert agronomers based in Rimouski. It later expanded its activities across the entire province when it opened offices in Rimouski, Montréal and Québec City.

Today, Activa maintains a staff of approximately thirty employees who work on a daily basis on a multitude of projects throughout province and in a wide range of sectors, including energy, infrastructure, natural resources and industrial (highways, bridges, wind farms, dams, power lines, wharves, oil & gas, factories, etc.).

The company’s clientele includes numerous top industry players, general contractors and engineering firms the likes of Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Quebec’s Ministry of Transportation, Hydro-Québec, Direction des barrages du Québec, EDF Renewables, Kruger, Innergex, Bombardier Recreational Products, Eurovia, Pomerleau, EBC, Béton Provincial, SNC-Lavalin, Stantec and many others.

With thousands of mandates under its belt and various recognitions in the sector, the consulting firm has built a reputation for excellence. In fact, since the very beginning, Activa has given 100% to every project. “We take our clients’ needs very seriously and do whatever it takes to ensure that they have the best solutions,” points out Activa GM Jean-François Hudon.

Resolutely future-oriented, Activa Environnement strives to bolster its position as one of Quebec’s leading environmental consulting firms. In this context, the company has recently invested over $200k to implement state-of-the-art telework technologies and to acquire additional high-tech scientific equipment. The company has also expanded its team at its Montréal office by hiring two new senior project directors, each of whom boast over 20 years of experience in the environmental field.
