The director general of the Quebec Road Builders and Heavy Construction Association (QRBHCA), Ms. Gisèle Bourque, is pleased to announce that the organization’s 75th Convention has obtained Level 3 of the BNQ standard for Responsible Event Management (9700-253). Activa Environnement is a proud partner in the environmentally-responsible measures implemented for this event.

The annual convention encourages the selection of predominantly local suppliers, the recovery of material produced by the event such as the re-use of name badges, and the inclusion of local products when creating the menus.

By purchasing the necessary carbon credits, QRBHCA is offsetting the greenhouse gas emissions generated by the travelling needed to organize the event as well as the travels of guests and delegates of the convention.

QRBHCA and Activa Environnement commend the involvement of all those participants who helped the convention achieve its objectives. QRBHCA is particularly proud to contribute in its own way.

Partnering with industry stakeholders in the modernization of Quebec since 1944, QRBHCA represents the majority of the most important contractors and suppliers working in the build-out of roads, civil engineering structures and major infrastructure. It is the only accredited representative of the civil and road engineering sector of the construction industry.

Also, in accordance with the Act respecting labour relations, vocational training and workforce management in the construction industry (Law R-20), QRBHCA is the professional workers’ association entrusted with the task of negotiating, applying and monitoring the collective agreement for the civil engineering and road works sector. In this regard, it represents the interests of approximately 2,600 employers in the construction industry, which comprises a workforce of roughly 35,000.
